David Cone's teammate, David Wells, pitched a perfect game about a year before Cone did. Wells achieved his perfect game on 5/17/1998. During the last 20 years, only seven pitchers ever pitched a perfect fame. That's about one perfect game for every 10 thousand games started by the pitchers.
